What's the deal with Coffee?

Updated: Jul 10, 2021

"It's best to drink your coffee within the first 30 seconds after receiving it."

Study's have shown that "crema" in coffee is produced when water and acid react with the temperature of water to create "gas bubbles" beautiful golden foam bubbles that delivers the taste and aroma we enjoy so much. However, it will only last in total around 60 seconds, then, temperature, aroma and taste start to dissipate.

(Coffeetonee) Tony Vitiello from The Coffee Gang says,

"it's important to teach up and coming Baristas this so they can then provide the information to customers and educate them. They in turn will be your loyal customer because they will trust you. I would always teach them the important aspects of becoming a barista and not just about the skill."

"When I was working in cafes, I built coffee relationships with my customers and educated them in the theory of coffee, so that they would walk away knowing more about their coffee and enjoy it more. I guarantee you, if you educate your customer, they will ask you more questions almost every single day and you will become their "Coffee KING" meaning that they will trust you and they will tell others about you. This is one way of becoming a great Barista but you must love and respect everything about the barista world to achieve that."

The coffee world has changed and people are becoming more educated about coffee, and that's because they want to know. They want to know why they're coffee tastes so good, or why does it taste so bad? What type of coffee should they be using at home? What coffee machine should I buy and how much should I pay?

Has the coffee world changed too fast or are we just demanding better everyday? Coffee use to be the drink for getting you moving in the morning and it didn't matter what coffee was on offer. Lots of sugar would hide the taste and it would just involve some hot water and coffee granules. Today, we grab a coffee mainly from our local cafe or a cafe near work, ask for single shot, double shot, weak, Decaf, 3/4 full, 1/2 full, Full cream, Skim, Almond, Soy, Macadamia, Lactose free, Oat, chocolate, no sugar, 5 sugars, Equal, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large and Jumbo, Hazelnut, Vanilla and Caramel, Tumeric, Black Bean and Matcha, pay accordingly for it and hope for the best!
